Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, Redshift, and DynamoDB
  • Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
  • Proficiency in SQL scripting and database design
  • Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies using AWS-native tools
  • Knowledge of IAM roles, encryption (KMS), and database security best practices
  • Hands-on experience with CloudWatch, Performance Insights, or Grafana for monitoring
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in Linux environments

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with automation using Python, Bash, or AWS Lambda
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of database replication and clustering techniques
  • AWS Certified Database – Specialty or Solutions Architect Associate certification

Responsibilities

Database Management & Optimization

  • Install, configure, and maintain databases such as RDS, Aurora, Redshift, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB on AWS
  • Manage query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning for high availability
  • Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity

Monitoring & Security

  • Monitor database performance using AWS CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and other tools
  • Ensure data security, encryption, and compliance across all environments
  • Manage IAM access control and implement best practices for security

Automation & Collaboration

  • Support automation initiatives using Python, Bash, or AWS Lambda
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to integrate databases into CI/CD pipelines
  • Perform database migrations from on-premises or other cloud platforms to AWS
  • Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and SOPs for database operations
