Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, Redshift, and DynamoDB
- Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
- Proficiency in SQL scripting and database design
- Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies using AWS-native tools
- Knowledge of IAM roles, encryption (KMS), and database security best practices
- Hands-on experience with CloudWatch, Performance Insights, or Grafana for monitoring
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in Linux environments
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with automation using Python, Bash, or AWS Lambda
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
- Knowledge of database replication and clustering techniques
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty or Solutions Architect Associate certification
Responsibilities
Database Management & Optimization
- Install, configure, and maintain databases such as RDS, Aurora, Redshift, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB on AWS
- Manage query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning for high availability
- Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity
Monitoring & Security
- Monitor database performance using AWS CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and other tools
- Ensure data security, encryption, and compliance across all environments
- Manage IAM access control and implement best practices for security
Automation & Collaboration
- Support automation initiatives using Python, Bash, or AWS Lambda
- Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to integrate databases into CI/CD pipelines
- Perform database migrations from on-premises or other cloud platforms to AWS
- Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and SOPs for database operations
